Have You Attained A Balanced Diet?

A balanced diet is the fundamental basis in maintaining our health. Different kinds of food provide you different sources of energy and nutrition. To maintain and even improve our overall well-being, we need to consume all sorts of food to satisfy our daily nutritional needs.

Do you know that our body needs at least seven main nutrients to stay healthy? Everyday, we need carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals and waters. Our body cells need these nutrients in a sufficient amount to function normally.

Among these seven types of nutrients, there are three macronutrients: carbohydrates, proteins and fats. They provide us the energy we need once they are properly converted in our body. However, compared to macronutrients, the human body requires less amount of micronutrients. For instance, minerals and vitamins, which help to maintain and adjust our normal body functions.

Eating undoubtedly is a knowledge worth acquiring. We need to select the right food in order to maintain a healthy body. PhytoFairy found that people nowadays are easy to fall victim to those unhealthy foods.

Carbohydrates

First, carbohydrates. Instead of taking white bread, rice or desserts, we can choose complex carbohydrates, which include oat, quinoa, buckwheat, barley, brown rice, millet and other types of whole grains. These foods typically have lower glycemic index and are able to control our blood sugar level, besides providing the feeling of satiety.

Proteins

For proteins, we can choose lean proteins. For instance, eggs, low fat dairy products, beans, peas and lentils. The nutritional values in these foods are very high while containing lower contents of fats and calories. Thus, PhytoFairy suggests we take in more lean proteins, instead of animal proteins.

Fats

Another thing which everyone is concerned about, fats. We are recommended to consume healthy fats, for example, nuts, avocados, flax seeds, chia seed, olive oil and others. And, remember to cut down on high calorie and trans fat diets, including animal viscus, seafoods, oily fried foods and also artificial cream.

Other than that, remember to take at least five portions of vegetables and fruits every day! How much is one portion? In other words, a portion is like the size of a fist. Only then, we could have enough nutrients, as well as sufficient minerals and dietary fibers intakes.

Because of our hectic routine, we couldn’t have enough time to prepare for sufficient nutrient intakes taking supplements for our body has become very important.
